A Scene Of Interpersonal Communication From The Movie Return

In this essay, I will be analyzing a scene of interpersonal communication from the movie Return to Me, particularly the miscommunication by touch that takes place. In this movie, the two main characters include, a man named David and a girl named Grace. David lost his wife in a tragic car accident not long ago and Grace recently received a lifesaving heart transplant. In the scene I will be analyzing, they recently met and have yet to understand the connection that they have: Grace received David’s wife’s heart. For over a year he has been grieving, he and his dog are trying to adjust to living without his wife. David’s friends try setting him up on blinds dates. He finally shows up for one of the many blind dates, at an Irish-Italian restaurant, and instead of being physically attracted to his blind date, he finds the waitress better suited for his style. He later makes an excuse to return to the restaurant hoping to see the waitress again and asks G race on a date. In this clip, they have been on their first date. At this point, David is walking her home at the end of the date. The impact of tactile communication presents itself throughout this clip through many aspects.
